Aku Bangga Indonesia

Nothing much has happened in the last couple of days and I have lost interest in writing what I said I would write -- and it's actually nothing that can't be summarized by the title above. So I'll just throw some random thoughts here.

I got a new laptop. Which was quite a surprise, as my company is not one known for buying brand new laptops -- reuse whenever you can, at all cost -- for their employees. And it came with a genuine leather -- at least it smells like it -- case. And it has a wireless card -- don't all laptops these days? And the keys all work. Woohoo!!!

That's the good news. The bad news -- well, it's not that bad, actually, it's just human nature to complain -- is that I have only 2 days to move all my files from the old laptop. Not so easy when you have been using the same laptop for almost two years. Even more difficult when you are lazy, of course.

The most anticipated TV show on this island finally made its debut last Monday. Singapore Idol, I mean. Not being a fan of these Idol shows, I caught the last quarter an hour of it. Not bad, I must say. Quite entertaining -- in good and bad ways.

It's a good thing, I guess, that the show is in English. It allows the judges -- four of them -- to be less original and come up with Cowell-esque remarks like, "Luckily that rose on your shirt is artificial; if not it'd be dead." The editing is quite creative, though -- good job so far. And surely the Singaporean spirit from the idol-wannabes is commendable. I have nothing else to compare to except AI and I say, they're not less spirited here.

BTW, it's Singapore Idol and not Singaporean Idol because they expect a lot of foreigners taking part. Imagine having a Singaporean Idol who is an Indonesian -- hey, one must show loyalty to one's country. That's the official reason, at least. It could be something more practical, like the difficulty in fitting Singaporean into the oval logo. South Africa and Serbia & Montenegro, BTW, solved this problem by simply calling their shows Idols and Idol, respectively.

That said, I don't think a foreigner would stand a chance once it comes to audience votes. I know it's supposedly a singing contest and all, but if the final two -- even three for that matter -- had any non-Singaporean, I would say this country has some patriotism problem. Although I won't bet against an Indonesian hacker... Oops, cross that, sorry. Not that it didn't happen before, of course.

Well, lookie here, it's six already. Time to have dinner with the guys. Which means I will miss SI's second episode at eight thirty. But that's all right, so long as I don't miss The Amazing Race at ten.

Current music: Search - Isabella -- I'm at work, but must try out my new laptop's speakers
Current mood: happy

Wah, lama ga nyala tiba-tiba udah ada 2 postingan baru. Rajin amat lu, Om.

Eh, eh, mau nanya niy, serius. Itu bener-bener lagi dengerin lagu itu yah? Jadul amat. Lagu jaman gw kelas 3 ato 4 SD, lagu paling ga jelas. Kesannya dua-duanya saling cinta, tapi tuss belakangan ada kata-kata:

Moga dibukakan pintu hati mu untukku
Akan terbentang jalan andainya kau setia

Jadi Isabella-nya ga setia dan si Amy Search [benerkah itu namanya?] setia? padahal katanya cintanya ga mulus kerana adat yang berbeza. Bukan karena setia dan ga setia.

Nggak usahlah terlalu diambil ati, Buncis, namanya juga kisah cinta dua dunia. Entar kita sok membahas malah salah.

Tapi -- sebelon akhirnya jadian lagi ama Hawkeye -- ternyata Amy masih menyimpan asa. Siapa tau bakal ada jalan, seandainya Isabella, biarpun udah terpisah, masih tetep setia en mau mempertimbangkan kembali keputusannya meninggalkan Amy.

Ato Tante Dettol? Sama kayak Om Dodol ama Om Bison? Apa Xinda juga boleh dipanggil Tante Xinda?

Emangnya kapan jadiannya, kok beraku-kamu? :P
