I watched Harry Potter last night. Nope, not the latest installment. That's gotta wait until dunno when. It was Prisoner of Azkaban I had just finished downloading. Yeah, that's right, I didn't get the chance to see it until then.
Honestly, save several "Huh?" and "Come on!" and "You call that a spell?" moments, I found it generally entertaining. Surely enough to keep me from my beloved bed until almost 4 in the morning. Hmm, then I guess I should've said this morning. Oh well...
Just a few random things to throw around since this seems not one of the nights I'm being overly coherent. That's what you get from going to bed at 4 AM.
Just how many students are there in Hogwarts? Seems like our teenage wizards trio find themselves conveniently alone half the times. Yet, there's always this stadium-like atmosphere come quidditch time. Kinda like Smallville High School, come to think of it.
Is Hermione hot or what! It's confirmed, my TV (movie? Laptop? Torrent?) crush on Ms. Granger, which started to develop in Chamber. That puts her in the same category as Jodie Foster, Helen Hunt, and Catherine Zeta-Jones -- and that's about it. Not bad company to be with. All right, let's move on before you accuse me of pedophilia. You know, before long I'll be able to date someone half my age legally.
As with the first and second Harry Potter movies, I was once again left reminiscing about my first few days in high school. Well, I'm sure every high school is special in its own way, to its current and former residents. In my case, the first time I stepped into our school, I was slightly taken aback by the -- if I may -- majestic surrounding. I don't know, something about the building, the aura of it, the then-67 years of its history, the ceaseless ghost stories.
I remember one particular walk my classmate and I took around the school the second week into the semester. We took in the high ceilings and the old-fashioned classrooms with their sloping floor. We let our minds free imagining what might be behind several closed doors. We looked in awe at the senior teachers, thinking, these are the people who know everything! (No worries, we inevitably wised up over time.)
But enough about my school.
Where did Peter Pettigrew's clothes come from? This guy had spent the last thirteen years as a rat. Yet, upon turning back into his human form, he magically had his clothes on. Aaand, when he turned into a rat again, he left the clothes behind. Then again, isn't this movie all about magic? Still, that's a trick Clark, Bruce, and co might find extremely handy.
Doesn't it suck when your main character is being outgrown by just about everyone else? Gotta love the camera crew's reaction whenever they heard "Cut! Daniel, you're standing too close to Rupert again!" I expect that to have been fixed in Goblet, though. Mental note to self: if I ever make a series of movies spanning a few years, make sure the main kid character is a year older than the rest of his posse.
Gotta feel for Prof Lupin. That was, like, the clumsiest werewolf ever! Couldn't they have at least given him more hair -- or fur, whatever? Reminds me of our neighbor's dog in Clementi. RB and I always said that the poor animal must've saved its owner's life or something.
Gotta feel for Prof Snape as well. He's my fav character after Ron -- Hermione doesn't count, she's moved beyond fav. He's, like, the coolest teacher in Hogwarts! The movie doesn't do him friggin' justice.
Finally, below are a few incantations that I'd like very much to master:
* Documentum generatio -- to instantly generate whatever documents to submit to one's client; useful variants would be bloggum generatio and hebdomadreportum generatio
* Deliquesco corruptela -- to make all corrupt acts and people disappear; I might know just a perfect country to practice on
* Abstergeo caninus excrementum -- to make a dog's poo clean itself
* Dormio rapidum -- to make one sleep whenever one feels like it
* Asio argentum -- self-explanatory
