The World Cup, That's What

With the World Cup completing its first week, I felt guilty for having written nothing about it. So here goes, my take on the first week.

1. The strongest thus far are Italia, Nederland, Argentina, and Espana. Ceska was a'ight, but they might have trouble up front with the strikers injured. Deutschland was good going forward -- even in the last match; Polska (and the goal posts) just defended well -- but looked hesitant at the back.

2. Brasil was, by their standards, rather disappointing. And the uniform makes the players look fat, look at Kaka! You know you're deeply in trouble when this bland guy gives you a piece of fashion advice.

David Odonkor of Germany 3. What is Tony Parker doing in Germany's colors?

4. England... well, they're England, what did you expect?

5. Han'guk was not too bad. And neither was Al Arabiyah as Suudiyah. (OK, I think I just went a bit too far with all these local names.) I hope both make it to the knock-offs.

6. Nippon desperately needs Captain Tsubasa to make it through. Which is too bad, I kinda like them.

7. My panda eyes are becoming more prominent by the day. Hey, when one has to pay extra 16 bucks, one might as well watch as many matches as possible! It's good that now I seem to have mastered the art of sleeping on train without missing my stop. And I hope I didn't just jinx myself there.

All right, enough for one entry to keep our June alight. England game is on now. Here's a bold prediction: 2-1 England (Crouch and Gerrard score.)
