Multiply is good -- to me, way better than Friendster in terms of speed and user friendliness. But here's the thing: it doesn't allow you to change your relationship to someone.

Say, you've been friends with someone for some time. One day, you suddenly say, "Hey, you know what, I think it'll be good if we take our relationship one step further. What say you?" He or she accepts and you're on cloud #9. You update your status, upload new photos, and leave a new testi on Friendster. You share the good news with the rest of the blogosphere.

Then you excitedly login to Multiply, wanting to upgrade your relationship to him or her to more than just Friend.

You can't, of course -- to the best of my knowledge, anyway.

All right, fine. It's not that big a deal.

But say, your BF or GF is not yet connected to you on Multiply. You send him or her an invitation to be your BF or GF. He or she accepts, of course. 'Cause that's one of the things BFs or GFs are for -- to accept invitations on Multiply. Now, Multiply says he or she is your Boyfriend or Girlfriend.

One day, too bad, things haven't been working out as expected and by mutual agreement (or individual decision -- after all, it takes two to start a relationship, yet only one to end it) you go separate ways.

Time to take those photos on Friendster offline, update your profile, and announce to the world through your blog that, once again, you're single and available.

So now, everyone knows both of you are no longer an item. Well, everyone but Multiply, that is. Because it still says both of you are still Boyfriend and Girlfriend. So what will happen the next time you start a new relationship? You might end up with two Boyfriends or Girlfriends. Or worse, if the new he or she is already your Friend, you'll end up with an ex who Multiply still considers your Boyfriend or Girlfriend and a current BF or GF who Multiply still thinks is just a Friend.

The right relationship is everything. Chase agrees with me.

BTW, it's cool that Multiply knows if a woman invites a man to be her Boyfriend, she should be his Girlfriend. I wonder what happens if a man invites another man to be his Boyfriend, would they be Boyfriend-Boyfriend? Pacarku suggested I try with Bryan Tamara. 'Unfortunately', he's already a Friend -- sorry, Bry, no relationship upgrade for you.

Just realized another thing. You can't remove any of your contacts. No matter how much you now hate this ex-friend (maybe he or she slept with your Boyfriend or Girlfriend -- the current one, not one that Multiply thinks... you know what, never mind) he or she will forever remain your Friend. At least, as far as Multiply is concerned.

Actually, having said that, I still think Multiply can't be that ogeb and that it's only me who hasn't figured it out just yet. Not that it's something I should be concerned with for now, of course.

'Till then, though, I'm happy enough to just keep uploading those MP3s. Ah, the joy (and addiction) of sharing.

See, what did I tell you? The ogeb is me. Multiply does have Remove Contact and Edit Relationship. Even Control Access to, say, allow noone to see that you have a Boyfriend or Girlfriend -- hey, people have their own reasons, you know.

My apologies, Multiply, you ain't ogeb after all.
