I got a call just the other day

When will I be free? I just don’t know when
It’s never a certainty
Maybe after the SIT

Development scheduled to end that day
But you know those bugs, they won’t go away
We couldn’t go home nor could we play
We had to work even through Sunday
And I saw my leave chances getting slim
Told my friend, I could not go with him
No, I could not go with him

All bugs to kill and emails to reply
When will I be free? I just don’t know when
Not with this SIT
Let’s hope after the UAT

With the UAT now underway
We had to find out the hardest way
That we had missed out all this while
The biggest lot that was the user profile
“What we’d really like, sir, is to use the IDs
It’s important, can we have them please?”

Nagging clients, tons of emails to reply
When will I be free? I just don’t know when
I hope before I turn forty
Yes, please, before forty

The UAT ended, finally
We rolled out the system, happily
I jumped for joy and reached for the phone
I called the old friend and heard him groan
“You see, I just took this job and it’s in IT, too
Means I’m goin’ nowhere with you, man
I won’t be goin’ nowhere with you”
I hung up the phone and it rang quickly
“The system been acting strangely
You’re needed here immediately”

Now I’m hoping for fifty
I’ll be lucky to see forty
